Carbonara

(Pasta Sauce)

A rich and creamy bacon and parmesan cheese sauce. Serve with spaghetti, angel hair pasta or penne.

  • In saucepan, combine sauce mix, 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) milk and 1 tbsp (15 mL) butter or margarine.
  • Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, whisking constantly. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook 4 minutes, whisking frequently. Makes 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) sauce.
  • Serve over 1/2 lb (250 g) cooked pasta. Makes 3 main dish servings or 6 side dish servings.

  • In 4 cup (1 L) microwaveable bowl, whisk sauce mix thoroughly into 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) milk; add 1 tbsp (15 mL) butter or margarine.
  • Microwave uncovered on high 4 minutes, whisking 3 times. Microwave on medium (50%) 3 minutes or until thickened, whisking twice.
